Being a wife and a mom with a passion for kids bedding, my entrepreneurial endeavors are a constant balancing act. Living a modest life in Southern California with my husband, 2 kids and 2 dogs, my day is full of wins and challenges, both personally and professionally. So, as I lead my responsibilities with heart and practicality, there are very few pauses during the day. That’s why sound sleep is a must in our home.
Unlike the awe inspiring, glamorous overnight successes we all dream about, it’s been a long educational journey powered by passion, patience and moment to moment perseverance. Here’s an example of my mind’s dialogue as I face discouraging roadblocks all the while shifting gears to discover new routes:
New Route: Wow! I love my job. I’m so happy I started this business:):)
Roadblock: Ugggg! I’m soooo frustrated…;( Is this ever gonna work??
New Route: Yay!! A win! I finally understand and it’s getting easier:):)
Roadblock: Oh No:( I have to learn how to do that too:/ Dang…
New Route: Today I feel refreshed! It’s a new day! Let’s do this:)
So, here I am, still driving. The good news is I’m not driving alone anymore:) After swimming with the sharks for years, I finally found the dolphins of the sea, See You Monday Marketing Agency:) Whether you have little business experience, like me, or are well versed in Marketing, Charmaine and Stacey are personable, have your best interest at heart and are on top of their game:) Yep. These two fabulous business women guide me to discover a new route when those frustrating barricades appear. And, now that I no longer run the business alone, my work load is much more productive and manageable. Here’s a peek at a typical day balancing wife, mom and my passion for kids bedding:
Rise and Shine
Being an early riser, it suits me to wake before my family. Ahhhh… the sound of nothingness with my favorite cup of joe is zen baby;) It’s during this time I lay out my day, seeing what I need to do for my business and family. Quite often, I am overzealous writing the “To Do” list, but that’s ok. The “To Do’s” that aren’t completed simply roll over for the next day:) Thanks to the direction of Charmaine and Stacey, I work ahead, avoiding anxiety driven deadlines that tend to take my breath away. So, when the troops awake, I’m ready for action!
Feed the Troops
As I hear my family begin to stir, I step away from my computer to avoid any unnecessary frustration and switch into family mode. And, as I begin our morning routine, I have a handy old fashion paper tablet next to me at all times. This way, as I whip up morning breakfast, my thoughts have a place to land. Seeing my family in the fresh morning light always reminds me how lucky I am to have such loving peeps in my life:) Yep, slowing down and taking the time to smell the pancakes makes my day a little sweeter:)
Off to the Races
Now, with online learning, things are running a bit different. There’s no dashing out the door to head for school. Instead, my kiddos head to their home school space to begin their day, popping out for snack and lunch. After their school day ends at 2:00, they take a break, snack and get their homework complete before dinner….if I’m lucky;) My hubby, on the other hand, heads to work at 9 and returns home around 5. I walk the dogs, attend to a few home duties and settle back into business mode until the kids are out of school. In addition, I squeeze in at least 30 minutes of Hot Yoga daily to keep my body, mind and breath flowing and glowing:)
Family Time
I start cooking dinner around 5:00 and my daughter joins me occasionally:) During the pandemic, I began ordering Home Chef meals and I LOVE cooking this way. Everything is in the box, measured and ready to cook with recipes my family really enjoy, so that’s a big win:) After dinner, we have a couple of family shows we look forward to watching together, Survivor always being a favorite:)
Sweet Dreams
After our busy days, we all look forward to a sound rest. To test upcoming products and fuel our bodies wit yummy sleep, I have modified T+C kids bedding design to fit tweens, teens and adults. I am happy to report, with a few simple buttons, everyone stays comfy covered, gets sweet sleep and easily make their beds in the morning:) Plus, my husband and I no longer engage in nightly Tug-of War over our sheets…. what a relief!
