Getting your child to sleep through the night with nifty natural tricks

Getting your child to sleep through the night on Christmas Eve is a must if Santa is coming to town.  After all, he has a lot of work to do before morning.  To give you a helping hand (goodness knows we all need it:) here are some soothing tips to lull your little one into a sound nights rest:)

The Wonders of  Warm Milk

Did you know milk contains melatonin, the natural sleep hormone we produce when our eyes and brain sense darkness?  It’s true:) Besides,  this bone-building drink also contains tryptophan, the sleep-inducing amino acid often associated with the fabulous turkey dinner we enjoy at Thanksgiving.

Pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp, author of Happiest Baby on the Block, tells us getting your child to sleep through the night is easier with a full-fat, warm cup of vitamin D milk.  Why whole milk?  This fat is friendly with its relaxing, sleep-inducing properties.  If you like, add a bit of honey to make it a delightful treat:).

**To prevent bedwetting, have this super sleeper drink at least an hour before bed :). Remember to have them potty before bed and, to be on the safe side, have them wear an extra absorbent pull-up for sly accidents waiting to happen:).

Relaxing Epsom Salt Bath

Once they’ve had their sleepy time milk, please give them a warm and cozy Epsom salt bath.  These magical bath salts are full of magnesium, minerals that help our body and minds naturally relax.   It’s an easy remedy to settle your overexcited tots into a restful state of mind.  There are several gentle Epsom salt baths explicitly designed for kids. Just google Kids Epsom Salts and you will have a plethora of choices:)

A Warm Cosy Glow

Did you know a warm cozy fire glow helps your brain relax?  Yep.  Simply sitting by the orange and red fire glow after your little buddy’s warm relaxing bath will ease them into sleep mode.  Snuggle up on the couch and read a Christmas story. Then, when they are friendly and cozy in their super-soft pj’s, keep them comfy covered in our high-quality kid’s bedding.  Yep.  Getting your child to sleep through the night is easier when they stay comfy covered.  Studies show when kids lose their sheets, they awake.  So, please do yourself a favor and try us for sleep’s sake;)

Red Night Light

Keep the comforting red glow going to produce our natural melatonin flow:). How?  A red nightlight.  Studies show traditional yellow and blue nightlights stop melatonin production in our brains, keeping your kids awake.  So, switch to red, so they stay in bed;)

Subtle Sound Machine

Block out the sounds of Santa’s work with a Sleep Sound Machine.  Getting your child to sleep through the night with the soothing sounds of the ocean, the flow of babbling brooks, or the clever tune of white noise is an excellent asset to their bedroom decor.  Another inexpensive way to settle your peeps to sleep:).

At Tucked Covered, our mission is better sleep for the whole family.

Our unique easy to use design ensures your little ones stay comfy covered to avoid sheets untucking and falling off the bed, a major sleep disruptor.   And when your kids sleep, then YOU sleep.  It’s that simple:)

Happy Holidays ~ From our family to Yours~
