Holiday Sleep Help Tips for Tots

Holiday Sleep Help Tips for Tots
Keep your holiday's bright with these sleep help tips for tots:)

If you want to put a few sleep help tips in your holiday bag of tricks, you’ve landed in the right place.   Unfortunately, most parents find it challenging to keep the bedtime routine on track when they are out of school.  Yep.  Time and time again, it’s been proven we all perform better with a predictable pattern.  I mean, even with Zoom school,  there are daily schedules to follow. So, when school is out and habits get wily, our much-needed rest often loses its flow. But never fear!  We’ve got you covered:). To prepare for the winter break, here are a few handy sleep help tips to put nighttime meltdowns to rest:

Just say NO

It’s crazy!  Even during the pandemic, I find myself overscheduling. For the kids, there are zoom birthday parties, cooking classes, guitar lessons, online playdates,  art classes, and the list goes on.   Of course, for me,  there’s always laundry staring me in the face, cooking to feed the constant Hungary clan, cleaning all the sloppy messes, essential business tasks. Geez! It’s genuinely never-ending.  So I’m sure even during the lockdown, there will be numerous online events for child participation.  I don’t know about your kids, but all the screen time for my children is exhausting.  So, say no to an overload of outside activities during this holiday.  I mean, what’s more important, your kiddo having a zoom art class or you being their playdate?  Now, when we look at the glass half full, it is the perfect time to build family spirit, keeping everything simple and easy.  Go ahead, try it. Just say NO….it feels terrific 😉

Ask for Help

Although asking for help seems simple, I don’t do it enough!  Why?  I guess I’m a martyr at heart, suffering for no good reason.  This holiday season, let’s ask for more help, peeps!  If you need to run errands, holiday shop, or need a break, splurge and get a babysitter.  You deserve a helping hand during the holidays!  Another more affordable way to split up child care is creating a safe and healthy pod group.  Yep.  Having a child watch rotation plan with mom friends you trust gives everyone a much-needed break. With this type of arrangement, you can help one another wrap gifts, cook dinner, decorate and even take turns going to the grocery store.  Moms helping moms we get each other:)

Keep Your Sleep

If you’re considering a holiday activity or a small festive gathering this season, ask yourself if it’s going to interrupt your child’s sleep. If the answer is yes, take time to reconsider.  Seriously, instead of being swept away by the invitation at hand, reflect on the last meltdown and rough night’s rest you had with your kiddo.   Is it worth it?  If the answer is no, skip it.  If an obligation is necessary, like a doctor’s visit during nap time, adjust the appointment time to fit YOUR schedule instead of creating an unhealthy situation for yourself.  The more you keep your child’s schedule intact, the less sleep help you will need:)

At Tucked+Covered, our mission is better sleep for the whole family.  We understand how valuable a good night’s rest is for you and your little one.  That’s why we created sheets that keep your kiddo comfy covered.  Studies show when your kids stay covered, they sleep better.  And when they sleep, then YOU sleep.  It’s that simple:)

Take care of yourself this holiday season:)  Remember, sometimes less is more;)
